Edward J. Hearns, 90, previously residing at 3 Belle Ave., Auburn, NY, died Monday,  August 14, 2017, at St. Camillus Residential Health in Syracuse.

 

Mr. Hearns was born in Auburn and was a graduate of Holy Family High School. After graduating high school he served in the Asiac Pacific Theatre in WWII. After returning from the War, he starting working for the New York State Electric and Gas Company. He was Chief Lineman for over 30 years and retired in 1983.

 

Ed was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to fish and hunt with family and friends. He loved to travel, spending winters in Florida and taking trips to Oregon every fall and spring. Ed took the family on great camping adventures and they visited just about every state in the USA. He was an avid walker and stayed in shape by working out at the YMCA. He loved spending time with his family by the pool or at the lake.

 

He is survived by his two daughters, Nancy H. Anderson (Jim) of Portland, OR and Linda J. Martinez (Vincent), of Jordon, NY, and daughter in-law, Maureen Hearns, of Auburn, NY, and eight grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.

 

He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Phyllis Hearns (2008), and two sons, Thomas (2005) and Michael (2015) and grandson, Jon (1994).

 

A family service will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery on Friday, August 18. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to your favorite youth sport organization.
