Joseph A. DeSimone, Jr. , 58, of 16 Standart Ave., Auburn, passed away Sunday, December 14, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Rome, NY he was the son of the late Joseph A. and Josephine Montalbano DeSimone, Sr. Joe was a 1974 graduate of Rome Free Academy High School where he played football, baseball and lacrosse. He was also a graduate of Mohawk Valley Community College. He was employed for 26 years with Leigh Hanson, Inc in Geneva where he was a quality control inspector. Joe was a communicant of St. Mary's Church. He enjoyed traveling and was always ready for a new adventure. He was an avid Yankees and Miami Dolphins fan and always enjoyed the company of friends and family. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Leeann Jones DeSimone; three sons, Matthew (Amanda), Michael and Stephen; a father-in-law Gary Jones; a sister Jody (Daniel) O'Connell; a niece and nephew, Aimee and Christopher O'Connell and by several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his father in 1994 and by his mother in 2008. He will also be missed by his loyal dog Daisy. Calling hours will beWednesday, December 17 from 4-7pm at Langham Funeral Home, LLC with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Thursday at 10:15AM at St. Mary's Church, Auburn. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers those wishing may make contributions to St. Mary's Church or to the Hospice of the Finger Lakes in memory of Joe.
