Ellen Mae Cioffa

Ellen Mae Hickey Cioffa, born in Auburn,NY,  was the daughter of the late James and Mae (Hoerger) Hickey, passed away peacefully at Auburn Community Hospital on January 19, 2026, at age 88.

In her early years, Ellen worked as a law secretary for Mayor Herb Anderson before running her family’s plumbing business, where she became known as the ultimate fixer. Loyal, strong, and proudly Irish, she carried her toughness with tenderness, remaining a devoted caregiver and the steady center of her family.

She was married to her late husband James Cioffa for over 60 years and is survived by her brother Jack Hickey (Terry); her children James (Robin), Thomas (Tonchi), and Jacqueline; five granddaughters Alexandria Miles, (Chris), Stephanie Cioffa, Carolynn Smith (Justin), Kassandra Cioffa, and Madison Cioffa; seven great-grandchildren Nadine, Elliott, Keely, Tukker, Freya, Charlotte, and Juliana; and her cherished “porch happy hour” friend Susan Cioffa. She was predeceased by brothers Thomas Hickey (Rochelle) and Jim Hickey (Nancy).
