William Burroughs Obituary

William H. Burroughs, 85, passed away peacefully at his home on December 11, 2025  leaving behind a legacy built on devotion to family and hard work. With his family by his side, William departed this world just 36 days after the passing of his beloved wife, Pam, reunited once again after a lifetime of love and partnership.

Born in Seneca Falls, New York, he was the son of the late Frank and Inez Bennett Burroughs.  Bill proudly served in the Army National Guard from 1957 to 1960 before beginning his long career as an automobile mechanic. He retired from Harry’s Tire in Auburn, where his skill, resourcefulness, and work ethic were well known and respected. To many, he was the man you could always count on to fix anything—cars, machines, and often even the difficult moments of life.

A lifelong fan of country music, William attended the Country Music Fest and traveled wherever the music carried him—sometimes just as far as Cortland, and other times all the way to Tennessee. His favorite was Loretta Lynn, whose songs filled many car rides and quiet evenings.

William treasured family time. He and his beloved wife—his partner for 67 wonderful years—made a joyful habit of “staycations,” keeping their home as the heart of their world and always welcoming family and friends.

As a father, he was everything a dad could be: patient, steady, and endlessly giving. He taught generations about maintenance, automobiles, and the everyday lessons of life. He was an every guy’s guy—reliable, knowledgeable, and devoted—with a heart that worshiped his wife and embraced fatherhood as his greatest privilege.

Bill also had a love for NASCAR, classic car shows, and, above all, bowling. He bowled well into his late seventies, right up to age 78, sharing many of his best games with his best friend and bowling partner, Bob Kreydatus.

To his family, he was the one you could always call upon—the steady hand, the voice of experience, the quiet foundation who offered advice, support, and encouragement whenever it was needed.

He is survived by his daughters, Terri (Brian) Eggleston, Billi Jo (Matt) Decker, and Lynn (Jeffrey) Smith; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a sister Phyllis Dadabbo; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Pamela Warner Burroughs on November 5, 2025 and by their daughter Lori Burroughs.
