AUBURN | Kent R. Brandstetter, 55, of 217 Genesee St. Apt. 2, Auburn, passed away on Jan. 2, 2019, after a long illness.
Born Jan. 4, 1963, he was a lifetime native of Auburn and the son of the late Charles and Florence (Richardson) Brandstetter. He worked at Hanson Aggregates for 22 years until his retirement in 2008. He was co-director of the Salvation Army soup kitchen for 16 years, executive committee member of the Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES, Board of Education (vice-president and president) of the Auburn School Board, NAACP, Salvation Army board of directors, Democratic party, and Harriet Tubman Residential Center. He was involved in the school education and community trying to make it a better place for the next generation. He was also a founding member of New York State Kite Association for more than 20 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Charity (Keerps) Brandstetter; his 10 children, Elicia Coff and Heather Brandstetter, of Auburn, Canaan and Jordan Brandstetter, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Holly Brandstetter, of Indiana, Melody Lessaongang, of Skaneateles, Caleb Brandstetter, of Union Springs, Jacob, Noah, and Eli Brandstetter, of Auburn, and 21 grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his brother, Kevin in 1984; sister, Karen in 2017, and his granddaughter, Faith Coff in 2005.
Memorial services will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 17, at Langham Funeral Home, 75 E. Genesee St., Auburn.
