AUBURN | Virginia May (Wilson) Hawley, 87, of 15 South Marvin Ave., passed away Monday, March 17, 2014 at Auburn Community Hospital after a brief illness. Virginia was born in Kingston, N.Y. She was the daughter of the late Gerald R. Wilson and Anna Flynn Wilson. She was a graduate of Central High School in Auburn. Virginia was employed at Steigerwald Wholesale Electric Corporation, where she retired as office manager for 30 years. After retiring, she loved doing crossword puzzles and going to the Merry-Go-Round Playhouse and Rosalie's in Skaneateles. Virginia is survived by five step children, Georgia (Sal) Sclafani, of Brooklyn, N.Y., Henry W. (Kathy) Hawley, of Marcellus, Joseph E. (Sarah) Hawley, of Centerville, Mass., Benjamin P. Hawley, of Lafayette, N.Y., and Richard D. Hawley, of Syracuse. Virginia is also survived by four nephews, Gerry Wilson, of Arizona, Mark Wilson, of Auburn, Matt Wilson, of Baldwinsville, and Luke (Janile), of Jordan. She is also survived by two grandnephews; one grandniece; 12 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. Virginia was predeceased by her husband, William Gere Hawley in 1988; brother, Gerald Wilson in 2007, and a stepson, W. Gere Hawley III. Friends are invited to call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, March 21 at the Langham Funeral Home LLC, 75 E. Genesee St., Auburn. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 22 in St. Alphonsus Church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
