Richard D. McCarthy, 73, formerly of Owasco St., Auburn, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, October 24, 2014 at Matthew House. Born in Auburn, he was the son of the late John and Marion Kinney McCarthy. He was an avid NASCAR and football fan. He was loved by all and will be missed. He is survived by several children, David McCarthy and his fiancé Amanda Woodmansee, Amy Streitz and her fiancé Douglas Wallace, Timothy McCarthy and his wife Rickie , Michael McCarthy, Marybeth McCarthy Krebs and her husband Robert all of Auburn, Edwin McCarthy and his s wife Pam of Port Byron, Richard McCarthy Jr. and his wife Debra of Baldwinsville, Roxane McCarthy Malone and her husband Dale of Lafayette, Robert McCarthy and his wife Sandra of Florida and Cynthia McCarthy of Florida; a brother Robert McCarthy and his wife Jean of Auburn; several grandchildren and great grandchildren and a special son-in-law Dennis Harmon of Auburn. In addition to his parents Richard was predeceased by his wife Judith McCarthy Woodman, a brother Jack McCarthy and by two sisters Lois Quill and Marion McCarthy. There are no calling hours and a private graveside service will be held in St. Joseph's Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers those wishing may make contributions to the Matthew House in memory of Richard. Langham Funeral Home, LLC is handling arrangements.
