Obituary of Joanne C. Lally
AUBURN | Joanne Lois Carr Lally, 88, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, July 10, 2017 at Auburn Community Hospital. A resident of The Commons on St. Anthony, Joanne is best known for residing many years at the beloved Lally's Little Farm on Weedsport-Sennett Road in Sennett, N.Y.
She was born in Auburn on Feb. 1, 1929 to the late Clayton and Helen Wilson Carr. She graduated from Auburn's East High School and was employed at New York Telephone Company before marrying her life love, the late John "Jack" Lally. She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Weedsport, N.Y. Joanne was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and truly special friend to many. She not only made a wonderful home for her husband and seven children, but many others who passed through her doors over the years. The Farm was always open and welcoming to all. She was witty, caring, and hard working. She was a true giver and gracious to all. Her pleasant and positive personality would be reflected by all that she met. Her 65 years spent with her husband, Jack, were a true model of love and friendship. Their shared interest in travel, camping, and nature provided a never-ending source of joy for them and the whole family.
Joanne is survived by her six loving children, Kathleen (Dick) Corbett, Martin (Betty) Lally, Terrence Lally, Mary Lally, Daniel (Annette) Lally, and Timothy (Laureen) Lally; 10 grandchildren, Scott (Dana) Corbett, Joe Corbett, Jessica (Sammy) Golden, Meaghan (Chris) Lally, Jolene Lally, David Lally, Michael Lally, Thomas (Tracy) Motherwell, Jordan Lally, and Eric Lally; nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Joanne was predeceased by her son, Stephen Lally; her grandson, Joshua Lally, and her siblings, Clayton Carr Jr. and Ruth "Betty" Lauderdale.
Special thanks are due to the 4th floor and other staff at The Commons; as well as the staff at Auburn Community Hospital for the compassionate care given both to John and Joanne, as well as our family.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, July 29 in St. Joseph's Church, 2667 Hamilton St., Weedsport, with a Mass of Christian burial being celebrated at 11 a.m. in the church. Interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Weedsport, will immediately follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Joanne's memory to St. Joseph's Church, 2667 Hamilton St., Weedsport, NY 13166.
