Ann Geherin Scanlan (May 16, 1948 – December 3, 2018)

Ann Geherin Scanlan went to her final resting place on the morning of December 3, 2018. After living a beautiful and full life with her family and friends, she passed away peacefully with her family by her side. Ann was born on May 16, 1948 in Auburn NY to Jack (predeceased) and Gloria (Gilbert) Geherin, who survives her. Ann spent her entire life in Auburn, graduating from Mount Carmel High School in 1966 to go on to St Francis College in Loretto, PA, graduating in 1970. Ann retired in July 2010 from First Niagara Bank where she was VP of financial services and Regional Sales Manager. On January 16, 1971, Ann married the love of her life, John Michael Scanlan, who survives her. Ann is also survived by her 4 sons Eric (Bridget), Brian (Rebecca), Christopher (Nicole) and Brendan (Kristin). Ann leaves 11 grandchildren that she truly adored: Kieran, Kate, Hailey, Jake, Sheamus, Cameron, Maddie, Chloe, Molly, Cooper and Trevor. In addition, Ann leaves her siblings, Mark (Jennifer) Geherin, Tom (Melissa) Geherin, Chris (Kathy) Geherin and Jean (Jack) Baraczek.

 

Ann truly lived life to the fullest! Always surrounded by her family and an amazing group of friends, she had many incredible experiences. Alongside her husband John, she loved to spend time with her sons, daughters-in-law and grandchildren at the lake and on vacations; She loved the special relationship she had with her sister Jean and cherished every moment they had together; she volunteered with many organizations throughout her life (Matthew House, Blessed Trinity, St Alphonsus, just to name a few); she took many vacations with John to many beautiful locations (Europe, Caribbean, Ireland, Rocky Mountains…) always looking to experience life; she was an incredible mom to her 4 boys, being sure to attend every game from CYO though Nazareth College lacrosse; she had so many wonderful experiences and a positive effect on so many because as she used to say "I just love people."

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at Sacred Heart Church on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. Calling hours will be held Friday, December 7, 2018 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Melrose Rd., Auburn. The family requests the omission of flowers and suggests donations in Ann's memory to one of the following organizations: Hope Lodge in Rochester, NY; American Cancer Society and/or Strong Memorial Hospital Liver Transplant team.
