Richard F. "Dick" Landers, 72, of 29 Copley St., Auburn, passed away unexpectedly with his family by his side on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at Auburn Community Hospital. Born in Auburn, he was the son of the late Paul and Helen Beardsley Landers. Dick was a 1960 West High School graduate and an Air Force veteran stationed in Korea serving his country from 1961 to 1967. Following his military service he graduated from Cayuga Community College and Alma College in Michigan and later received his MBA from Syracuse University. He resigned in 1990 as Vice President of Human Resources from Goulds Pumps in Seneca Falls. He later retired in August of 2004 from Cayuga Community College as Director of Admissions.
Dick was a kind and a gentle man who family and friends could always rely on. He enjoyed playing golf and was a member of Lakeview Golf and Country Club. He was a former member and director of the Auburn Jaycees and was an avid reader. Active in the sport of a track and field, he was a NYS track and field official in his retirement and continued to participate for the Empire State Games where he recently received a medal in the discus.
Dick was a loving and attentive husband, father and grandfather. Above anything else he loved spending time with his grandchildren who meant the world to him. His world revolved around his family and he was a man of strong ethics, values and integrity.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Ann Smith Landers, his three children, Kelly (Nick)Diego, Cathy (John) Vail and Dr. Brian (Marisol) Landers; a brother, Dr. David Landers; a sister Susan (James) Wall; four grandchildren, Hannah and Aiden Diego, Bodhi Landers and Jessica Vail and by several nieces, nephews and special cousins and friends..
