VENICE CENTER | Laura Y. "Bonnie" Stephenson Marshall, 70, of Venice Center, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Dec. 27, 2014 at Auburn Community Hospital. Bonnie was born on June 15, 1944 in Auburn to the late Ralph H. Stephenson and Helen Parker Stephenson, formerly of Poplar Ridge. She graduated from Sherwood Central School in 1962 and from Auburn Community College Nursing School in 1965. She was a former registered nurse at Auburn Memorial Hospital. Bonnie was looking forward to attending her upcoming 50 year nursing graduation celebration and spoke of it frequently. Bonnie will be remembered for her beautiful embroidery and crocheting. In the afternoons, she enjoyed her coffee break and watching some of the Young and The Restless and The Bold and The Beautiful. Even if she didn't watch it every day, she used to say "watch the last five minutes on Friday, and you'll know what happened during the week." She enjoyed gardening and canning. In the spring and summer, she liked sitting outside watching the wild birds come to her feeders. Throughout her life, she was a dedicated and loving daughter, wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and aunt. She is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Theodore P. "Ted" Marshall, and their children, Scott D. Marshall and Sheri Y. Marshall, of Venice Center; as well as her stepchildren, T. Joseph (Stephanie) Marshall, of Aurora, Tammy (William) Kick, of Auburn, and Patti (Joseph) Reding, of Cayuga. She leaves behind several beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Jeffrey S. Marshall (and son, Bowen), of Ohio, Kendra A. Marshall (and son, Zayden), of North Carolina, Matthew P. Marshall, of Fulton, Jarred R. Marshall, and David A.T. Hays, of Venice Center. Her step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren include, Joseph T. Marshall, of Auburn, Dakota Marshall, of Aurora, William Kick, of Auburn, Robert Kick, of Auburn, Michael Kick, of Auburn, Richard Sylvester III (and daughter, Emily), of Union Springs, and Kristy L. Sylvester (and son, Connor), of Cato. Additionally, she is survived by her siblings, Ralph B. "Butch" (Cindy) Stephenson, of Virginia, Robert A. Stephenson, of Aurora, Lorna M. (Wesley) Butts, of Aurora, and James E. (Carol) Stephenson, of Weedsport. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends are invited to call from noon to 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 2, 2015 at the Langham Funeral Home of Auburn. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. following the calling hours. Bonnie will be laid to rest in Ridgeway Cemetery in a private family service. In lieu of flowers, please consider the needs of Bonnie's family. If you wish, assistance may be sent to help in defraying costs to Cayuga Lake National Bank. A portion of these funds will be given in her name to the Quaker Friends of Poplar Ridge, N.Y.
