I am very sad to just have learned that Doc Clary passed away. I was a patient of his through a referral from another doctor. He made a device for me for sleep apnea. I really enjoyed talking to him about golf and other things. I was glad to have had the opportunity to know him. He helped me tremendously. My condolences to his friends and family.

I'm so sorry to just find out about the passing of Dr. Tom. I'm so glad I called him a few months ago as we hadn't spoken in a while. We worked together lifeguarding at Casey Park so long ago and became good friends. I had told him back then that I wanted to be a dentist so we discussed that a lot. The world will be a sadder place without you in it, my friend. Praying for strength and peace to the family and friends. Rest in Peace.

My brother Bob loved the Clary family, especially Tommy, Adam, and Robyn. He and Tommy had a long and deep friendship including, of course, wonderful dental care. There were photos of Adam and Robyn as youngsters all around Bob's home. Tommy was an important support to the Greene family in a difficult time, and I will never forget all he did for us. What a wonderful person. Two good and great friends, gone too soon.

Tom was like a second son to my parents, Bob and Barbara Marks, and my mother always said Tom gave my father an extra ten years of life. The short version of the story: My father had open-heart surgery in Rochester in March 2003 but had difficulty recovering and ended up at Auburn Memorial Hospital. One day my mother took my brother, Bob, and me aside and said she didn’t think he was going to make it and we should be prepared. The three of us walked back to Dad’s room to wait the terrible wait. That afternoon Tom walked in to pay his respects and after awhile started taking to my brother about the Syracuse basketball team, which was about to win the NCAA Championship. Well, as Tom and Bob talked, my mother and I noticed that Dad’s eyelids started to move. A few minutes later he opened his eyes. A few minutes after that he started moving his head from side to side, watching Tom then Bob, as they talked about SU. Dad made a full recovery and lived another ten years, and Mom always said it was because of Tom. Thank you, Tom, for all the wonderful things you did for so many people throughout your life.

My condolences to Tom's entire family. As women's swim coach, and John Skehan's assistant men's coach at Saint Bonaventure University in 1976-77, I had the privilege of helping to coach Tommy during his sophomore year. I remember he had a beautiful freestyle stroke along with virtually no kick(ie retro kick). His legs had been messed up in an accident, and this hindered his ability to sprint. Ironic it was that he broke a Bona school record in either the 100 or 200 Free his senior year. Hard work, determination, and perseverance were Tommy's calling cards; all traits which made for a great dentist, swim coach, and golfer. Tommy was certainly tops in all three.
Tom Clary was more than just a swimmer I helped coach. He and Bobby Greene were my good friends. They often came to my apartment together, and we shared many laughs and stories about Bonas. We re-connected after many years when I met Robyn and Tommy in Chicago in 2018. On a visit to his home last year, I told him that his life paralleled that of the fictional George Bailey in "It's A Wonderful Life." He leaves a legacy of hundreds of friends to whom he gave much of himself, and from whom he received much gratitude and love in return. Way to go, Dr. Tom!
